Roar!

My computer crashed;

I want it smashed.

I turned it on, a file popped up with a question mark,

now ain't that a lark?

I tried to find a photo of someone destroying an Apple,

to no avail...

But this picture of snowwhite is pretty cool, don't you agree?

LIVIN' THE LIFE AT THE U OF EARTH

I just wanted to post some beautiful pictures my friend Brit took on a trip to Guatemala- one day I would love to visit Central and South America....too many places to see too little time!!! For now I will have to satiate that urge with looking at this pictures, closing my eyes and playing a little good ole' make believe. Brit's blog has a bunch about her trip and also some political meanderings I quite enjoyed. Check it out at Livin' Life at the U of Earth- I am also digging the name!

VOLCANO- I Love the volcano!
There is something spontaneous about this picture that I enjoy- the colour composition is very nice; the red car, the yellow wall and the nun in stride...hmmmm

This is Brit's fav picture- that sky is nothing short of absolute technicolour madness!
I am in love with this cactus pot man- I need a man like this in my life and it would be complete :) I mean Jack is pretty good and all but does he have sprouting cacti eyes? I think not!

Over and Out, Delilah and Jack

Hmmmm, well we are off in less than a week. I have been home (to my parents house in the boonies) for the last couple of days and we have dial-up! It is the slowest thing imaginable! Thus I have not posted. Nothing of interest has caught my eye for the last couple of days, life has been catching up on movies and reading and trying to get Steve comfortable at my parents. Steve is our bratty cat (who my parents lovingly dubbed 'demon cat'). Otherwise, over the last few days:

1. We picked up our euro's!
2. We booked our hostel in Munich (Munich is surprisingly expensive!)
3. Moved all of Jack's stuff to my parents place for storage for the summer
4. Finished doing taxes (hallelujah!)
5. Went and saw the four-hour epic that is Che Guevara (amazing- we will write a post on that soon)
7. Finished reading the Carhullan Army
8. Executed a practice pack (which went very well I must say)
9. Got my first roll of film developed from my new camera (oh, how I long for a dark room, maybe one day)
10. Bought travel insurance

Jack is at work, finishing his last shift! Finally! Almost bon voyage! Will post a follow up about Che!

Lucy in the sky with Diamonds!

I took this picture on my return flight from Scotland! I am pretty sure it is Greenland?

Some lovely advice from a travel expert at my favorite blog yesandyes:

So, I am pretty much ready to pack my bags. I am traveling light, with the exception of books! I am only bringing my skate-backpack and a side messenger bag (carry-on), Jack is bring the big bag. I definitely took some advice from fellow bloggers, who have much traveling credo under their belts. I invested in a shampoo bar and face wash bar (which is amazing by the way) from lush which minimizes the risk of spilling gooey shampoo all over my luggage. I have my travel journal (check), pencil crayons, tape, scissors (check), and books! Jack and I are battling over which books to bring...we have quite the pile to go through!

Over and out, Delilah!

Trip Update!!!

We rented a furnished flat in in Beyoglu near Taksim and Tunel  in Turkey for a month! So exciting! Beyoğlu is a district located on the European side of İstanbul, Turkey, separated from the old city (historic peninsula of Constantinople) by the Golden Horn. Presently this figures prominently into the art/ music/ shopping district of Istanbul. Less than two weeks until we leave!

We leave in a month and a day!

The semester is wrapping up. Last day of class was on Thursday. Now I sit and procrastinate while I am supposed to be studying! Just doing a bit of last minute research for the trip. The one place I am excited to go to is Romania. Lots of castles, medieval towns and dun dun dunn....Dracula! I am sure the locals hate all the tourists coming through Transylvania on the intrepid search for vampires (especially with vampires becoming so popular in pop culture as of late...Twilight anyone?); being a tacky tourist I feel it is a must! Just to say I went to Dracula's castle, which inspired Bram Stokers "Dracula." I have been brushing up my Romanian history, learning about Vlad the Impaler. Also, I am thinking about picking up Dracula, written in 1897. Count Dracula (who is bad ass) could certainly teach Edward a thing or two about being a real vampire, heh heh (yes, unfortunately I watched Twilight, which consequently was a waste of an hour of my life).
Next installment in the trip itinerary- Turkey here we come!!!

We are going to Czech out the Museum of Communism in Prague!

Well, it is getting closer and closer to our trip! One week of school left, exams aannndddd then freedom! I know April is going to go by really fast, but I will have a lot of free time to continue to develop an itinerary (I kind of quit my job a bit early, long story). One place we are keen to go to is the Museum of Communism in Prague, Czech Republic. I have heard Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe (my good friend went there and she loved it)...Said friend also visited a park where there were discarded communist monuments from the Cold War era, I can't remember if it was in Prague but I will have to find out, because I want to go there as well!

These are advertisements for the museum, "Get Intimate with History"....I love it....and my, I must say, Stalin really gets the babes!

We are also going to the Berlin Wall!

Another must in Germany...we are going to beeline to Berlin to catch a glimpse of the previously named 'iron curtain' as Winston Churchill once dubbed it...Speaking of the fall of the wall, check out Good Bye Lenin, an amazing German film! I went to IMDB to find a picture to post and this is a conversation I observed on the message board...quite entertaining!

Firelucifer- "Why is the movie called goodbye lenin? I dont see any lenin in the cast?"
hardy cvpm- " He is the man whose statue is being carried away by the helicop
ter. He was the father of the soviet union"
Matheushsm- "Have you ever studied history?"
Cracker McGee- "He is a Beatle"
Cansarioglu- "He is the new boyfriend of Paris Hilton?!"
Cool Lester Smooth- "I am the Walrus"
Marxipan- "Here is another clue for you all: The walrus was Paul"
West Bromich Albion: "This takes the award for the most stupid thread"
Otdushy- "be nice= not everyone os familiar with history than you are. It is a perfectly reasonable question"
Humanophage- "Not knowing who lenin was, like not knowing Hitler or Napoleon, is one of those things that one can't justify by poor knowledge of history. It is more likely that the OP is a mere troll"
Redorchetsra- "Who is Hitler?"
David Colbourne- "What do Lenin and Paris Hilton have in common?, the world would be a better place if neither of them had been born"
Arizona Moonlight- "Who is this Germany I keep hearing so much about? I thought it was a person, but then I heard there was a west germany and an east germany and now I'm all confused"

I figured out by this message board that (a) some people may not know who Lenin is...I wonder if they know Stalin?; (b) some people do not like Lenin...or Paris Hilton; (c)they conclude the person who posted the question is ignorant and is therefor a troll or an american....I got a laugh out of this (especially as a history student) plus I enjoyed the reference to Big Lebowski....one of my favorite movies!
